Covering more than 1100 acres, the Trexler Nature preserve-formerly known as the Trexler Game Preserve is filled with extensive trails, rolling hills, incredible views, and a small herd of elk and buffalo. It is also home to the Lehigh valley Zoo-which is the 29 acre home to over 250 animals representing more than 128 species.
Join us for a day of photographing the animals both inside the zoo and within the Nature Preserve. No special equipment is needed, although a long telephoto lens will allow for nice portraits of the animals, and a super wide angle lens will allow for some unique perspectives of animals in close proximity to you. A macro lens or one with close-focusing capabilities will be useful for photographing inside the reptile house.
Though a relatively small zoo, there are tons of great images to be made here! I will do my best to challenge you creatively and ensure that you come away with a ton of images you love!
The event is great for beginners and more advanced photo enthusiasts. Instruction will be given on how to best compose your images to avoid fences and other distracting elements normally found in a zoo. We will cover the elements of exposure and how to get tack-sharp images of moving animals, and those that may only be viewed behind glass and fences. This will be a hands-on workshop, with instruction being given throughout the entirety of the workshop.
We will meet at the main entrance to the Lehigh Valley Zoo prior to their opening at 10am. The Trek will run until 3:30 pm, with a break for lunch and as the group desires.

A minimum number of participants is needed to run the even. A small group size will ensure ample individual attention.
