SUMMARY:9/11 Tribute In Lights Photo Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Tribute in Light is an art installation created in remembrance of the September 11 attacks. It consists of 88 vertical searchlights arranged in two columns of light to represent the Twin Towers. It stands six blocks south of the World Trade Center on top of the Battery Parking Garage in New York City. Tribute in Light began as a temporary commemoration of the attacks in early 2002\, but it became an annual event\, currently produced on September 11 by the Municipal Art Society of New York. \n\n\n\nOn clear nights\, the lights can be seen from over 60 miles away\, visible in all of New York City and most of suburban Northern New Jersey and Long Island.  Each year\, about 30 technicians\, electricians\, and stagehands work for about ten days to install the lights. During a testing phase of several days\, observers in Brooklyn\, Staten Island\, New Jersey\, and uptown Manhattan help make sure that the beams are adjusted accurately. The lights shine from dusk to dawn. \n\n\n\nMost of us remember where we were when we first heard about the attacks\, and we sat speechless\, glued to the television for days and weeks as rescue efforts took place around the clock. Never forget. What a wonderful way to honor all those who lost their lives and those who worked so hard to rescue them-than to witness the Tribute In Light in person. \n\n\n\n2026 is the 25 anniversary of the terrorist attacks and collapse of the World Trade Center. If you love capturing the beauty of cityscapes at night -or would love to learn\, then join us for this breathtaking photographic event. \n\n\n\nWe will photograph the Manhattan skyline from several locations in New Jersey. The group will meet by 4:30pm to be on location to begin photographing the during daylight\, the golden hours\, then before\, during\, and after sunset. We will continue to shoot through blue hour into dark. Specific details for where we meet will be sent to participants after registration. \n\n\n\nA Zoom meeting will be held prior to the Photo Walk to review all the details and get everyone ready for the event. Instruction will be shared throughout the event on how to expose for tricky lighting conditions-especially as it gets dark and camera meters are no longer able to give accurate exposure readings. Tips will also be given on composition\, creative long exposures\, and how best to convey such a moving and meaningful scene. Event will be great for beginners as well as more advanced enthusiasts. Participants should come with a decent understanding of their camera gear\, and be comfortable with changing basic settings-especially in darker environments.  \n\n\n\nRegistration will be limited and will likely fill fast. Don’t wait to sign up to join us for this special event! Deadline to register is September 8th at 5pm!

SUMMARY:Creative Dahlia Flower Photography Photo Trek
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Macro Photography Workshop at a beautiful dahlia farm\, where you’ll learn to capture stunning close-up images of intricate flower details. Perfect for beginners and more advanced enthusiasts\, this hands-on session will teach you techniques to reveal the vibrant colors and delicate textures of dahlias through your lens. Immerse yourself in nature’s art and enhance your photography skills in a picturesque setting. \nAs this is not a standard garden but instead a grower’s farm\, the main emphasis on this workshop will be macro and close up photography. You will need to be able to photograph your subjects from approximately 2 feet to just inches away. If you do not own a macro lens\, any lens that has a close focusing range will work. This would be an especially great place for LensBaby use. You could also use extension tubes with a midrange zoom to get similar results. The majority of the images shown here were taken on a micro 4/3s 40-150mm lens with an extension tube. A macro lens was also used for detail shots of shapes and textures of the flowers\, as well as capturing praying mantis and other insects. If you like to use a flash and diffuser\, those would also work great here. \nInstruction will be given on a pre-workshop zoom session\, to go over images\, lens and other gear choices\, composition\, exposure settings and all the details of the visit. If your camera features the option of Focus stacking or Focus bracketing\, you can learn how to use that for even greater control of focus and depth of field!. Hands-on instruction will also be given throughout the workshop. \nTo continue the learning experience\, there will be an image review via zoom after the workshop\, to review images\, and go through composition and editing tips. \nJoin us for this 3 hour immersion into color\, shapes\, textures and more! An early morning start may lead to the added bonus of dew drops on the flowers! \nThe garden is in the Greater Allentown\, PA area. Exact location will be given upon registration.
