Eastern State Penitentiary Special Early Morning Members Access Photo Walk Saturday May 25, 2019 Time: 8am – 11am
Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but was abandoned in 1971. It stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world’s first true “penitentiary,” a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of convicts. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America’s most notorious criminals, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone. Opened in 1829, it quickly became the most famous prison in the world and more than 300 prisons in South America, Europe, Russia, China, Japan, and across the British Empire were all based on its plan.
Participants have come away with some of their most unique and creative images while photographing at ESP. The grit, character, history, and creative potential is amazing-and almost limitless! You will be challenged creatively as you work to capture texture, shadows and light. Instruction will be given on creative composition, exposure, HDR(High Dynamic Range) photography and more.
A highlight this time around will be the special early-morning Members-Only access.
Note: this is being set up as a “Photo Walk” and not the usual “photo Trek”. The difference is that though I will be on-hand to instruct and help, I will also be doing some shooting of my own, as this opportunity is held only for members and only once a year.

Cancellation Policy:
Two (2) weeks notice is required to receive a full refund. 75% refund of the Trek fee with only one (1) week notice. NO refund will be given if less than one (1) week notice is given for cancellation. Must call to cancel. We reserve the right to cancel the Trek at our discretion. Minimum number of participants is necessary to run event.
Once again, a fantastic day with great people. Val has to be the most patient person I know, always offering tips and suggestions to improve lighting and composition.
